The source of the durability and the insulation power of the foundation membrane is high density polyethylene (HDPE). As a functional geomembrane, the dimpled membrane is press formed in the production process, through which it obtains perfect form, with the optimum height and diameter of the dimples. It should be mentioned that it is made of environmentally friendly materials, with a very long aging process. Thanks to these properties, this type of geomembrane may be used for insulating and protecting foundations against humidity (the material does not rot and is not water permeable). An important feature of the dimpled membrane is that it is not reactive – it is absolutely neutral towards the chemical compounds that are most often present in the soil.
For many insulation materials the problem is not only chemical compounds, atmospheric factors, but also biological ones – fungi and other organisms living in the soil (e.g. rodents). When do we use foundation geomembrane?
The dimpled membrane is recommended for professional perimeter drainage for the building constructed on a land with a higher level of water content (with a relatively thick layer of humus). Please remember that the geomembrane we offer is not a waterproofing solution. Due to its properties and the specific structure – it may be used as a protection element for waterproofing, but is will not provide full protection of foundation against humidity. The primary task of the polyethylene geomembrane with its special dimples is to ensure that the wall „breathes” effectively, i.e. the excessive water is removed. Hence, the dimpled membrane does not substitute the vertical and horizontal insulation.
Please, remember that the dimpled membrane must be laid correctly – with the dimples towards the wall. Only then the geomembrane will be able to create the right space enabling the removal of water and the protection of the waterproofing (especially against mechanical factors).
